Want to eliminate chemical-based cleaners in your home? Don’t know where to begin? Confused as to what effective alternatives are available? We will provide you with tips, tricks and suggestions for eliminating toxic, chemical-based cleaners in and around your home. We'll discuss the effectiveness of non-toxic home recipes as well as chemical-free commercial products available in the market today. Participants in this session will mix, make and take home a non-toxic window cleaner, along with additional recipes and tips for other non-toxic and “green” home cleaners.

Green Living Workshop

Living and going green can sometimes feel like an overwhelming task, particularly if you are just starting out. It’s a good idea to start simple and choose one area to change at a time instead of trying to tackle everything at once. 

 

Juli and Tracy of Earth-Smart LLC and the green blog/website www.ecosizeme.com, will give a presentation and lead an open discussion on being green in your home on May 6, 2010 at 7p.m in Mt. Clemens, MI. Families typically spend a good portion of their time at home in the kitchen so it’s a natural place to start when you want to incorporate new green practices. We'll move throughout other areas of the house and highlight things like switching to non-toxic cleaners, green grocery shopping, laundry and more. Participants will mix, make and take home their own non-toxic cleaner, as well as lists of tips and recipes for being green in your home.

Michigan PTSA Annual Convention

We just got word and wanted to share the news! We are both honored and excited that you will be able to find us at the 92nd Annual Michigan PTA Convention in April where we will be presenting the session "Creating a Greener Culture". More information will be provided as it becomes available. In the meantime, be sure to mark your calendars.

Our Green World

 When you have the opportunity, the new issue of Healing Garden Journal is worth the read. The focus of the March/April edition is Our Green World. 

For me, it reiterates and reinforces that taking a step and making a move can indeed have an impact and be the catalyst for something bigger. I am an environmentalist. And what I’ve come to realize is that you don’t need to be hardcore to make the needle move. What you do need is to be sincere and intent in your actions.

We didn’t arrive at our current environmental state in one fell swoop. And, we surely aren’t going to reverse it that way either. One person making one change and taking one step each day will have a compounding impact as we move forward. I am making a conscious effort every day to be a little greener in both my actions and purchases. If that will inspire another person to do the same, then change has begun.
